RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds)

The RSPB is a charity that already has over 1 million members in the UK.

Our work is driven by a passionate belief that we all have a responsibility to protect birds and the environment. Bird populations reflect the health of the planet on which our future depends.

The need for an effective bird conservation organisation has never been greater. Climate change, agricultural intensification, expansion of urban areas and transport infrastructure, and over-exploitation of our seas all pose major threats to birds.

The RSPB could not exist without its supporters and members. Whether you join us, give a donation, purchase items from us or undertake voluntary work, your support is vital to the future of birds and the places where they live.

The RSPB is a charity with over one million members. Young and old, urban and rural, from every corner of the UK, RSPB members volunteer thousands of hours working directly for birds, and are the charity's biggest source of income. Together, they demonstrate a powerful and widespread commitment to birds and the environment on which we all depend.

For the RSPB to succeed in reversing some of the catastrophic declines that have taken place in bird populations, we need to increase our income. The more funds and support we can secure, the more we can achieve for birds and people.

The scale of our conservation success will depend on the continued generosity of our numerous supporters, including corporate partners, grant-making bodies such as Heritage Lottery Fund, charitable trusts and our members. We are grateful for all this support and are scrupulous in ensuring it is used effectively.

It has always been RSPB policy to hold low levels of financial reserves - we want to tackle today's conservation challenges today. We hold less than four months expenditure in reserve.
