Send A Cow

Send a Cow helps some of the poorest families in Africa by providing training in sustainable farming and resources such as livestock, seeds and trees. All families helped by Send a Cow pass on an offspring of their animal to another family, so more and more families are getting milk to drink, crops to eat, and money to pay for schooling. In fact, for every family we help directly, another 9 go on to benefit. Today, there are 6,000 families on Send a Cow’s waiting list.

We rely largely on the generosity of the UK public for donations. We also receive funding from Rotary and other trusts, churches, and businesses.

Send a Cow is a Christian charity, which treats all people equally regardless of race, gender or creed. All those we work with undertake to pass on the benefits they gain, such as livestock and skills, to another family, so our work goes on multiplying throughout communities.

Although we have helped thousands of families across Africa, we are quite a small organization in the UK, and rely greatly on our fantastic network of volunteers. Our Head Office is based in Newton St. Loe just outside Bath.

We have offices in four African countries (Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Lesotho), and work with a wide range of partners, particularly the non-governmental organization Heifer International. We always work with community groups, which are selected by our African staff on the basis of need.
